Do you know Jon Klassen?

Cats’ Night Out, I want my hat back, Extra Yarn…all great books illustrated by super

talented and skilled Jon Klassen, a Canadian illustrator/author who won two Caldecott

Awards (“for the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children”)

in the same year (2013). If you haven’t seen Jon Klassen’s books yet, you must!

Award winning book This is not my hat is both written and illustrated by Klassen. When

I first saw the book in a book store I thought I will buy it for myself! I mean, the illustrations

in the book were incredible and I was completely taken by the fish who is discovering the

missing hat. I found the story of a child-like little fish who thinks it can get away with stealing

something from a much bigger fish great fun.

Another great children’s book illustrated by Jon Klassen is Extra Yarn. The book won’t teach

you how to knit but the images and the story might make you want to learn!  It tells a story of

a little girl Annabelle who brings color to her colorless town by knitting from a box with endless

yarn. Extra Yarn is a Caldecott Honor BookBoston Globe-Horn Book Award winner, and a New York

Times bestseller…and on my wish list, too!

Jon Klassen also worked on the animation for Coraline and Kung Fu Panda.
