books for kids about architecture

Books for kids who want to be architects

Whether boys or girls some kids like to build stuff. As babies they liked to play with

stacking blocks and later on they enjoyed building and constructing, playing with Lego

or assembling cars, robots or houses. If you’re raising and educating a little architect or

an engineer at home or at school check these wonderful books and enjoy reading with

your kids!

{1}Iggy Peck Architect by Andrea Beaty is high on my favorite books list. It’s a story about

a boy who had only one passion since he was two – architecture. “He built churches and chapels

from peaches and apples and temples from modeling clay”. The story is about creativity and

passion, the text is funny and in rhyme, the illustrations are beautiful and super detailed.

Iggy Peck Architect is sincerely an outstanding book for all children.

{2} Young Frank Architect by Frank Viva is adorable storybook about adventures of

Young Frank, an aspiring architect, who lives with his grandfather Old Frank in New

York City. The boy likes to build things with anything he finds – pillows, toilet paper,

macaroni, shoes, cookies, old boxes – he likes to create structures of every shape and size!

This whimsical book written and illustrated by award-winning author Frank Viva is an

inspiration for little architects as well as a lesson for those who think they’ve seen everything.

{3} Architecture according to pigeons by Stella Gurney is a cultured children’s guide

to architecture, it is beautifully and funny written book with charming collage artworks by

award-winning illustrator Natsko Seki that introduces the world’s most beautiful buildings

(more than 40 best-loved structures in the world) and basics of architecture to children.

Architecture according to pigeons is a great book for all parents who want to share love

for architecture with young inquiring minds.

{4} Another fun and interesting book  by Andrea Beaty is called Rosie Revere, Engineer.

This book is New York Times bestseller for a reason –  it’s inspirational, equally great as

Iggy Peck Architect, beautifully illustrated and wonderfully written.  Rosie Revere, Engineer

is a wonderful children’s picture book about a young girl Rosie who loves to invent, with

an important message to follow your dreams and not give up.
